I am a Yoga Teacher and Metalsmith who also dabbles in the practices of Energy Medicine, Ritual and Astrological Remediation.
I began a daily yoga practice in 1996, when after my first class, I immediately required the solace and refuge I found at my neighborhood yoga studio. After several years of deep study I was certified in 2004 as a Yoga Teacher, with Diana Beardsley of the esteemed Center for Yoga in Los Angeles.
Since then, I have studied with many other teachers in varying realms, styles, traditions and modalities. Today, my practice and study is primarily focused on a functional and contemplative style of yoga called Yin yoga. In Yin practice I found what I was always seeking in the more yang or movement-based styles, but never found. A quiet practice, a slow process, way of going inward and a settling down. Yin yoga truly is the other half of yoga. I’m listed as a Yin Yoga Teacher at http://www.yinyoga.com
My aim as a teacher is to help keep yoga asana functional, accessible and sustainable for all bodies. I strive to be a compassionate, permissive and intuitive teacher and my classes are simply a humble offering, inspired by my deep of love of the practice.
Since 2004, I have earned well over Yoga Alliance’s E-RYT 500 hours of training, and have studied with many well-known teachers, as well as many not-so-well-known, yet brilliantly inspiring teachers over the years, including; Diana Beardsley, Bhava Ram & Laura Plumb of Deep Yoga, Paul Grilley & Suzee Grilley, Matthew Schulman, Bernie Clark, Erich Schiffmann and my very first teachers at that neighborhood studio, Jonathan Emerson and Juliette Kurth of Silver Lake Yoga in Los Angeles, who first encouraged and empowered me to teach.
In 2014 after a lifetime of being athletic and highly active, I was diagnosed with RA/RD or Rheumatoid Arthritis/Disease, a chronic autoimmune condition that targets the joints, tissues and organs. I also found out I have a degenerative form of Osteoarthritis as well as Degenerative Disc Disease. As a result, I have undergone several surgeries to repair joint damage. This significantly changed my life and practice, but has also inspired me to further my studies of functional yoga, pain management and healing. I encourage everyone with any form of arthritis to come to my classes.
Following a family lineage of energy workers and medicine people, I completed a comprehensive energy medicine foundations program through Eden Energy Medicine with Donna Eden, and has been combining this powerful work with my love of yoga ever since.

YOGA MELI is inspired by the Greek word for honey, μέλι (meli), and is the root of Melina’s given name. Symbol of all sweetness, the honey of knowledge creates the happiness of mankind. Throughout history, honey has represented this sweetness of life and designates supreme bliss and the state of nirvana. In modern psychoanalytical thinking, honey symbolizes the “higher self” , the ultimate consequence of work on one’s inner self. As the result of the transmutation of ephemeral pollen into a delicious food of immortality, honey symbolizes the transformation by initiation, the conversion of the soul, and the complete integration of the person
